Razorback Project
Bespoke Window Furnishings and Outdoor Blinds for a Luxury Custom Built Razorback Home
Set within the rolling landscape of Razorback, this large-scale custom built home was designed with no expense spared on its architecture, interiors and finishes.
For a home of this scale, the window furnishings needed to do more than simply dress the windows. They needed to complement the home's considered design, provide privacy and light control, and extend the living spaces outdoors while maintaining the refined aesthetic of the property.
Cobbitty Blinds supplied and installed a complete combination of custom sheer and blockout curtains, roller blinds and 10 motorised outdoor Zipscreen blinds, creating a cohesive window furnishing solution throughout the residence.
What We Installed
-
Throughout the home's key living spaces and bedrooms, custom made sheer and blockout curtains using fabrics by Nettex Australia were selected to add softness, texture and depth to the interiors.
The layered curtain treatment provides flexibility throughout the day - allowing natural light to filter through the sheer curtains while the blockout layer can be drawn when greater privacy, darkness or light control is required.
The carefully selected Nettex fabrics complement the home's premium finishes while maintaining the relaxed sophistication expected of a high-end custom residence. Nettex textile collection includes fabrics specifically developed for contemporary drapery applications.
-
Custom roller blinds using fabrics by Shaw Australia were installed throughout selected areas of the home, providing a clean and understated window furnishing solution.
Roller blinds were chosen where a streamlined finish was preferred, allowing the architecture, finishes and expansive rooms to remain the focus.
Shaw Australia's collection includes a broad range of roller blind fabrics, including light-filtering, sheer and blockout options, making it possible to tailor the level of privacy and light control to each individual space.

One of the standout spaces in the Razorback residence was the large home cinema, where the window furnishings became part of the overall theatre experience.
For the cinema, traditional theatre-style velvet curtains were custom made and installed to create an authentic cinematic atmosphere while adding a rich, luxurious finish to the room.
A particularly detailed element of the installation was the custom shaping at the bottom of the curtains. The curtains were carefully cut and finished to follow the stepped flooring of the lounge seating area, allowing the fabric to sit neatly alongside the change in floor level.
Rather than simply installing a standard curtain treatment, the design was tailored specifically to the architecture of the cinema. The result is a dramatic, theatre-inspired finish that feels completely integrated into the space.
It is a great example of how custom curtains can be designed around the unique details of a room, rather than expecting the room to accommodate a standard window furnishing solution.

One of the standout elements of the project was the installation of 10 motorised outdoor Zipscreen blinds, fitted to the home's outdoor entertaining areas.
With such a substantial connection between the home's interiors and outdoor spaces, the Zipscreens were designed to make these areas more comfortable and usable throughout the year while maintaining the home's architectural aesthetic.
Each outdoor blind was motorised using premium Somfy motors, providing effortless operation at the touch of a button.
The Zipscreen system uses side channels to retain the fabric, helping create a more enclosed outdoor environment while providing protection from sun, wind, rain and insects.
Somfy's motors can also provide centralised control and automation, making large-scale outdoor blind installations considerably easier to operate.

The Razorback project is a great example of how multiple window furnishing products can work together across one large custom built home.
Rather than specifying one product throughout, each area was considered individually - from the softness and layering of Nettex sheer and blockout curtains, to the clean lines of Shaw roller blinds and the functionality of ten motorised outdoor Zipscreens.
The result is a sophisticated, cohesive window furnishing scheme that complements the home's architecture without competing with it.
For a residence where every finish had been carefully considered, the window furnishings needed the same level of attention to detail.
This Razorback home showcases the difference that bespoke window furnishings, premium fabrics and quality motorisation can make in a high-end custom build.
