Harrington Grove Project
Sheer Curtains, Shutters & Outdoor Awnings for a Contemporary Harrington Grove Home
This Harrington Grove home was designed with a strong connection between its interiors and outdoor entertaining spaces. The window furnishings needed to complement the home's contemporary finishes while providing practical control over light, privacy and the elements.
Cobbitty Blinds created a tailored combination of motorised sheer curtains, plantation shutters, outdoor blinds and motorised awnings, with each product selected according to the requirements of the individual space.
What We Installed
-
Large stacker doors opening onto the alfresco were fitted with motorised sheer curtains, creating a soft transition between the home's interior and outdoor entertaining area.
Motorisation provides effortless operation across the large opening, while the sheer fabric adds softness and privacy without compromising the sense of openness.
The curtains can be operated with ease when the space needs to be opened up or when additional privacy and light filtering is required.
-
A combination of plantation shutter styles was used throughout selected areas of the home, providing a consistent architectural finish while allowing each space to have a window treatment suited to its individual needs.
White PVC plantation shutters were installed in selected bedrooms, offering a practical and durable solution particularly suited to areas where moisture and everyday use need to be considered.
In selected living areas and the principal suite, black Basswood plantation shutters were chosen for their rich timber appearance and ability to create a strong architectural feature within the interiors.
The contrast of the black shutters adds depth and definition while complementing the home's existing finishes.
-
The home's outdoor entertaining areas were enhanced with motorised Ziptrak outdoor blinds, providing greater flexibility and comfort when using the alfresco throughout the year.
The motorised system makes opening and closing the outdoor blinds effortless, while the Ziptrak system provides a streamlined finish and helps create a more protected outdoor living environment.
-
The pool cabana was finished with motorised awning blinds in a classic black and white stripe, adding both practical shade and a distinctive design element to the outdoor entertaining area.
The striped fabric complements the home's architecture while giving the pool area a relaxed, resort-inspired feel.
Motorisation allows the awnings to be adjusted easily as the position of the sun changes throughout the day.
-
Aluminium shutters were also incorporated into the alfresco, providing a durable outdoor window furnishing solution designed to withstand the Australian environment.
The shutters allow the homeowners to adjust light, airflow and privacy while maintaining the clean, structured appearance of the outdoor entertaining area.
Their aluminium construction makes them particularly suited to outdoor applications where durability and weather resistance are important considerations.
-
A key consideration for the Harrington Grove home was maintaining the impact of the feature entry door without compromising airflow or insect protection.
Rather than installing a traditional fixed screen door, which would have added a permanent frame across the entry and distracted from the home's architectural feature, the homeowners opted for a retractable screen solution.
The retractable screen can be neatly drawn across the doorway when required and retracted when not in use, keeping the entry visually open and allowing the feature door to remain the focal point of the home's facade.
